
Shrewsbury
Set amidst glorious countryside near to the Welsh Borders, the historic town of Shrewsbury was the birthplace of Charles Darwin, who developed the theory of evolution. Shrewsbury is one of England’s finest medieval market towns packed with timber-framed black and white buildings, steep narrow streets, quaint shops and alleyways.

Erddig Hall
Erddig Hall is a fascinating early 18th-century grand Victorian country house where visitors can see the upstairs/downstairs life of a gentry family over the last 250 years. The extensive downstairs area contains Erddig’s unique collection of servants’ portraits, while the upstairs rooms are an amazing treasure trove. Outside, an impressive range of outbuildings includes stables, smithy, joiners’ shop and sawmill.

Chester, including Roman tour
The Roman tour takes place in a number of different parts of the city including the Roman Amphitheatre, the Roman walls and Roman gardens. The soldiers provide an interactive and memorable learning experience. This is followed by free time with the option of visiting the medieval cathedral , going on a boat cruise or shopping on the historic Chester Rows.

Ironbridge/Blists Hill
Learn about the Industrial Revolution with a visit to the world’s first iron bridge and about social history with a visit to Blists Hill open-air Victorian Town. Join the ‘Victorian’ townsfolk as they go about their daily lives in this recreation of a small community at the end of Queen Victoria’s reign. Find a cure in the Chemist, talk about the ‘latest’ Paris fashions in the Drapers and discover how the Victorians crafted the household objects of the day. Make sure you visit the Bank, where you can exchange your modern money for old fashioned currency to spend in the town’s shops.

Conwy Castle
The medieval walled town of Conwy is a well-known tourist attraction on the North Wales coast. The skyline is dominated by the famous Conwy Castle built in 1283 and described as “one of the great fortresses of Medieval Europe”. During the excursion students visit the castle and traditional seafront where they can see the smallest house in Britain.

Llandudno
Llandudno is the largest resort in North Wales and only 5 miles from Conway. Llandudno is a traditional Victorian seaside resort, home to the longest pier in Wales and Britain’s longest passenger cable car.

Liverpool, including Beatles Museum
Liverpool is one of the most popular cities to visit in Britain and its waterfront is a World Heritage Centre crammed with historic buildings and landmarks. It’s impossible to imagine Liverpool without music and so we include entrance is included to the award-winning Beatles Story in the historic Albert Dock.

Manchester, including tour of Manchester City’s stadium
This trip includes a guided tour of Manchester City Football club’s stadium where students will have the chance to see the directors’ box, warm-up room, dressing room, walk of pride, tunnel, pitch side/dug out and also the memorial garden. Then they visit the city centre of Manchester including the Science and Industry Museum and enjoy some free time for shopping.
